It’s almost time for fall which always reminds me of when I started my lash journey 2 years ago. When I look back at all of the accomplishments I have had, one special person always comes to mind. She has always been honest, helpful, supportive… I could go on. She also can translate any science terms into words I can understand which is an achievement, as science is NOT my specialty. So this month I want to dedicate Lash Babe of the Month to my lash nerd, Brigitte Sargent. And if you happen to be in the NovaLash or Nothing, Lash Stylist Support group she’s always answering questions to help others.
I’m so fortunate to be able to do something every day that I love… lashing has always been a creative outlet for me that also brings calm to my busy life… the peace of working in such fine detail with my hands in a totally stress free environment is my bliss.
I started my journey answering phones in an incredibly busy medical spa, seeing the aestheticians at work there got me curious, their treatment rooms always smelled wonderful (lemongrass, tea tree and lavender I later found out), and their clients were so happy to see them when they came in, so I pursued my aesthetics degree and fell in love when we got to eyelash extensions.
7 years later, my clientele is 100% lash extensions and I’ve opened my own little studio in Clearfield Utah, while still working at the Medical spa that started it all 🙂
I have never been busier or happier!
I chose NovaLash way back in 2012 when I was in school… the adhesive and lashes they had us use was awful… there’s just no way to sugarcoat it, the adhesive was cheap, watery and was immensely irritating to my clients (they wore face masks because of the smell and their eyes were almost always red and irritated after the service), and as far as retention went, there was none… they called after a week or two to get back in for a touch up. I knew there had to be something better out there. So I researched every spare minute I had and found a NovaLash ad in the back of one of our spa magazines… the adhesive was made in the USA, medical grade, formaldehyde free AND was oil loving and instantly waterproof, the rest is history.
As far as my goals, I’d say I’m almost there ;). I’d like to be lashing full time at my little studio and go camping with my family more 😂 In the meantime, my clients are getting the highest quality products I can offer, my training is top notch and I adore what I do… it’s a success story in the making.
I don’t know of one “favorite memory” per say, but my favorite thing so far is every sweet client I’ve gotten to meet along my journey, either at my original “home base”-the medical spa, at beauty shows and expos, or my little lash corner of the world.
I can say one of my favorite memories was getting to meet this beautiful soul in Las Vegas this past year at the IBS show! Just getting to hug her and tell her thank you in person was a very good moment for me. (I used to be convinced she was a robot because she always knew the answer to my random questions and responded so fast to me!). She allows my weird side to come out & welcomes it! She is an inspiration to know and a talented lash magician for anyone who is a client of hers. I cannot wait to see what she accomplishes to end out 2019! Make sure to follow her on Instagram and check out her work.
