5 Reasons Why I Celebrated #InternationalWomensDay

I will start off by admitting I never even knew this was a thing. But today not only did I participate but I celebrated the movement. I am writing this post at night because I have spent all day thinking of what this day even means. To me International Women’s Day is, celebrating the accomplishments and even goals of women ALL OVER the world. I am really starting to feel some type of way about this women empowering women stuff. It really is life changing when it happens.

So after I thought about what it meant, I started to think of my own life. When I think of this specific day, what comes to mind? Obviously, women. So I made a list of the 5 women who have changed my life.

MICHELLE MIRIZIO

Michelle is my lash mom. She has been in the industry for over 15 years and has mentored me from day 1 of finding her on a lash group. She always helped me and was educating and honest and just so nice. I could message her at night and she would ALWAYS respond to me. So without her, I wouldn’t have got through my time of learning classic lashes without her.

RAYLENE CRAVENS

I have been social media friends with Raylene for a while and always admired her work. And then watching her open her new studio, Lash by Lash, was like a daydream to me. She changed her life in the blink of an eye it seemed like, because she was. NovaLash Lash Artist of the Year! She gave a speech at the Brand Ambassador meeting that I got to sit in on, thanks again Eyelash Magazine! Raylene gave a speech about her journey and it made me realize, “I can do this”, and gave me that bit of confidence that I was missing. I felt like she just shook me and said “HELLO!”. Since I have found an amazing multi-room space and have taken my goals to the next level.

SOPHIA NAVARRO

She’s my Madonna of life. She was the one who upped the game and created American Volume & those AMAZING Candied Lashes I obsess over… So right there she’s an IDOL. After taking her class, she was so nice and helpful and smart. Just listening to her talk about lashes was just amazing. I mean she teaches the class for American Volume… It’s amazing to get 1-on-1 time with the person who created the technique. And she continues to help and encourage after the class. When I got to attend LASHOff I got to sit by her during the training and she remembered me! Almost a year later! I mean I’m sorry but, she meets so many people a year I was shocked she remembered me. I got to talk with her more at the Gala and take pictures and talk to her and other professionals she introduced me to. She is a legit lash celebrity to me & I feel so special knowing her as I do.

JONI RAE RUSSELL

This one is my favorite to write because this woman is my life hero. She has changed my life, inspired my life and I just can’t even describe what this beautiful woman has done for my career. Listening to a speech from her is life changing. I felt like she was telling me everything I needed to hear to decide to just go for my goals. And push myself, no matter what goes on to keep going and work hard until I reach those goals.

But the one who really is my reason to celebrate, is the one and only…

SOPHY MERSZEI

She is the reason this world has NovaLash! She took a love of science and the beauty industry and changed eyelash extensions, FOREVER! I mean, NovaLash is the most award winning brand in it’s 15 years leading the industry. Without her I wouldn’t have a brand I am obsessed with, some of the most amazing friends, or a career that is constantly changing my life! I owe even this blog to that amazing woman. I know I am not the only one who thinks that way! I had the opportunity to interview her for Eyelash Magazine, and it was the best part of my career to date. Listening to her talk about something I am so passionate about and learning about why she started the brand and the science behind it to show how amazing the products are was mind blowing. And she is seriously, so beautiful in person too! Like I said in a prior post, it was the first time in my life I think I was speechless talking to her.

There’s many more who have changed my life especially in the last year. So thank you to not only the 5 mentioned above but to those women who have been in my collective lady gang. We need to celebrate each other’s accomplishments more than once a year and thank each other to show appreciation for women encouraging women.

Who do you think of when you see #internationalwomensday, who comes to mind?

Keep your lashes happy & filled with volume and goals!

  2. I absolutely agree with the women empowering women in this post 😁 every single one of these girls has influenced me as well… we’re all here on our journey together, maybe not all going the same direction 😂 but we all have the same goals in mind.
It’s 100% refreshing to be able to talk to each other about anything and it’s a no judgement, super supportive, exactly what I need to hear zone.
Thanks to all the women who’ve helped me get to where I am today 🖤🖤🖤
