Seasonal changes cause hair routine changes. For healthy hair I like to suggest 3 things:
To start off fall on the right foot always make sure your hair is clarified. Purchasing salon brand clarifying, sometimes called deep cleansing, shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo washes out some mineral buildup but will keep it clean between clarifying treatments. The conditioner is light weight and helps to prevent weighing down the hair.
Another fall prep idea is to do a good clarifying treatment. The summer products have been building up and baking onto your hair so you want to get all of that off to ensure a healthy scalp as well as make sure your color takes evenly. Ask for a Malibu treatment (some use other words or phrases to describe the service) at the salon next time. This is a salon only service where you sit under a dryer for 30 minutes and then rinse out the build up. Some people like to buy off brand types that say they are comparable, I will say those do not compare to Malibu Crystal Gel (white packets). You will feel an instant difference in your hair. Next, is condition. Especially after a treatment you will want to purchase a take home hydrating masque. When you remove build up it also can remove moisture so you want to make sure you are putting that back into your hair. The night of a treatment it is a good idea to put the masque in at night and rinse out the following morning. This gives the masque plenty of time to do the job it needs to.
The last thing is usually what people tend to forget. It is suggested every 3 days to set aside 10-15 minutes and give yourself a scalp massage. Some people use special brushes for getting a good scratch-like effect all over the scalp for exfoliating and circulation. Besides the fact that it always feels amazing to get a nice scalp massage: it also increases the blood circulation in your scalp, speeds hair growth and maintains healthy hair.
